The Best Rodeos in Texas

When we consider rodeos, we see cowboys wearing big boots and using stetsons. Live rock music, giant mad bulls, the smoky smells of bbq, and dangerous delights combined with cotton candy. That conjures up images of a rodeo for me. Rodeo Austin did not let us down!

Rodeo Austin’s Highlights

Rodeo Austin is an entirely non-profit rodeo, which shocked me. The group’s mission is to raise funds for Texas students to get college scholarships. In fact, Rodeo Austin awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships last year! If it doesn’t make you want to support them, we do not know what will make you! Noted some below are some of our favorites from the Rodeo this year:

Bull Riding

Rodeo Austin’s bull riding is world-class, and the energy and enthusiasm were evident. We fell in love with this competition as soon as the bull was released. It’s thrilling at the moment, but it’s likewise stressful because we hesitate when something dreadful might happen to the rider. Nevertheless, the Bull Riders pressed themselves to the limit with their self-discipline and guts to hold on for the required 8 seconds. Unfortunately, this event went by so rapidly that we wished it had lasted longer.

Live Music

Following the Rodeo, we had the opportunity to see the Struts perform, and they are incredible live. This was our first time enjoying a British rock band, and we’re eagerly anticipating seeing them once again. Everybody stood up and started dancing after they opened with their hit tune Body Talks. Diva Luke Spiller advised us of a cross in between Austin Powers and Freddy Mercury. We certainly liked the live music.

Steer Wrestling

This occasion was Mano y Mano, Guy vs. Cow. The cowboy would chase after the cow on his horse at great speed, then jump off and take the animal to the ground, holding him. As he pressed the cow into the ground, you could see the grit in the cowboy’s eyes. This occasion was fantastic; it got our heart racing and our adrenaline rushing. We’re all interested in the principle of man vs. animal.

Wild West Show

We had the chance to sit down and see a fantastic Wild West show before the Rodeo began. Candidates rode their horses around the arena, carrying out some of the most extraordinary tricks we have actually ever seen. Handstands, turns, and even jumping off the horse and vaulting back on while on the run are all possible. This occasion happens on the fairgrounds, so go have a look before going into the arena.

Pig Racing

When we arrived at the fairgrounds, we instantly went to the pig racing event. These pigs did not disappoint me. They put their hearts out and place on an unbelievable show. It was actually charming to see the small pigs run. The pigs were racing for their preferred college, as you can see, and the crowd was ecstatic when the UT pig won it all.

BareBack Riding & Saddle Bronc Riding

We prepared to pick 5 of our preferred occasions, however, this Rodeo was too wonderful. Bareback riding was unbelievable. Riders grabbed on tough for life as we know it, trying to hang on for 8 seconds without any saddle and just rigging to grasp on to. This was the first occasion we witnessed, and it stimulated our interest. It made us understand that we had been losing out on the Rodeo for the past ten years.

Conclusion

Isn’t there much to do? For us, it was a full day of enjoyment that we would extremely recommend. But, initially, come experience Texas’ official sport in the state capital! Every year, Rodeo Austin stages among the very best ProRodeos in the country, with action-packed competitions, a Texas-sized carnival and fair, shopping, food, and various unique destinations.
